The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met in camera at 11:08 a.m. this day, in Room 213, Wellington Building, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, Josée Beaudin, Dona Cadman, Ron Cannan, Raymonde Folco, Ed Komarnicki, Yves Lessard, Ben Lobb, Tony Martin, Hon. Maria Minna, Michael John Savage and Maurice Vellacott.

 

Acting Members present: Mike Lake for Ed Komarnicki.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Chantal Collin, Analyst; Kevin Kerr, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

On motion of Raymonde Folco, it was agreed, — That the amount for the 2009 Centennial Flame Research Award be set at $4, 500; that the press release and the application form for the 2009 edition of the Centennial Flame Research Award be published on the Committee’s website and that May 29, 2009 be set as the deadline to submit applications; and that the Chair and the Clerk be authorized to take means, such as preparing an ad for the Members householders, in order to give the Award some publicity.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair send a letter to the Chief Government Whip on behalf of all the Committee members concerning committee travel.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee resume debate on Yves Lessard's motion at its meeting of April 23, 2009.

 

At 12:16 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
