The Standing Committee on Health met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Joy Smith, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Patrick Brown, Colin Carrie, Patricia Davidson, Nicolas Dufour, Kirsty Duncan, Luc Malo, Cathy McLeod, Joyce Murray, Joy Smith, Tim Uppal and Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Keith Martin for Hon. Carolyn Bennett.

 

Associate Members present: Carol Hughes.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sonya Norris, Analyst; Karin Phillips, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: As an individual: Anand Kumar, Doctor. Canadian Healthcare Association: Pamela Fralick, President and Chief Executive Officer; Denise Desautels, Director, Policy and Communications. Canadian Public Health Association: Debra Lynkowski, Chief Executive Officer.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, August 12, 2009, the Committee resumed its study of H1N1 Preparedness and Response.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:00 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:05 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That on Monday, October 26th, 2009, the Committee meeting be devoted to the briefing on sodium consumption in the Canadian diet.

 

It was agreed, — That on Wednesday, October 28th, 2009, the Committee meeting be devoted to the study on H1N1 preparedness and response.

 

At 5:39 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
