The Standing Committee on Health met in a televised session at 2:14 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Joy Smith, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Carolyn Bennett, Colin Carrie, Nicolas Dufour, Kirsty Duncan, Luc Malo, Joy Smith, Tim Uppal and Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

 

Acting Members present: Paul Calandra for Cathy McLeod, Robert Gordon Clarke for Patricia Davidson, Royal Galipeau for Patrick Brown and Hon. Anita Neville for Joyce Murray.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sonya Norris, Analyst; Tonina Simeone, Analyst. House of Commons: Christine Holke David, Procedural Clerk.

 

Appearing: Hon. Leona Aglukkaq, Minister of Health.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, August 12, 2009, the Committee commenced its study of H1N1 Preparedness and Response.
 

The Minister made a statement and, with David Butler-Jones and Shelagh Jane Woods, answered questions.

 

At 3:40 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 3:48 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

John Maxted, Jan Kasperski and Berry Vrbanovic made statements and, with Alain Normand, answered questions.

 

Perry Kendall made a statement by videoconference and answered questions.

 

At 4:51 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:53 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 

At 5:15 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
