The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 9:01 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, James Rajotte, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Maxime Bernier, Robert Carrier, Bob Dechert, Daryl Kramp, Jean-Yves Laforest, Hon. John McCallum, Hon. John McKay, Ted Menzies, Thomas J. Mulcair, James Rajotte and Mike Wallace.

Acting Members present: Martha Hall Findlay for Massimo Pacetti and Gerard Kennedy for Massimo Pacetti.

Associate Members present: Brian Jean.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Philippe Bergevin, Analyst ; Mark Mahabir, Analyst . House of Commons: Catherine Millar, Committee Clerk.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday February 5, 2009, the Committee commenced its study on Financial Priorities of the Federal Government.

The Minister made a statement and answered questions.

At 10:01 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:05 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Jean Perrault, Michael Atkinson and Jeff Morrison made statements and answered questions.

At 11:03 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
