The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met at 3:38 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Hedy Fry, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Sylvie Boucher, Luc Desnoyers, Hon. Hedy Fry, Candice Hoeppner, Irene Mathyssen, Cathy McLeod, Hon. Anita Neville, Dave Van Kesteren and Lise Zarac.

 

Acting Members present: Rick Norlock for Alice Wong and Roger Pomerleau for Nicole Demers.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Julie Cool, Analyst; Jean-François Nadeau, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. Helena Guergis, Minister of State (Status of Women).

 

Witnesses: Status of Women Canada: Nanci-Jean Waugh, Director General, Communications and Strategic Planning Directorate; Cindy Paquette, Director, Corporate Services Directorate.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(5), the Committee commenced consideration of the Supplementary Estimates (B) 2009-2010: Vote 85b under CANADIAN HERITAGE referred to the Committee on Wednesday, November 4, 2009.
 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee commenced consideration of the Performance Report 2008-2009 of Status of Women.
 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, the Committee commenced its study of a gender based analysis in the federal government.
 

Hon. Helena Guergis made a statement and, with Nanci-Jean Waugh and Cindy Paquette, answered questions.

 

At 4:46 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:48 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, October 1, 2009, the Committee resumed its study of women and pension security.
 

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

 

At 5:35 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
