The Standing Committee on International Trade met in camera at 11:17 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Lee Richardson, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, Hon. Scott Brison, Ron Cannan, John Cannis, Serge Cardin, Claude Guimond, Ed Holder, Peter Julian, Gerald Keddy, Lee Richardson and Mario Silva.

 

Acting Members present: Malcolm Allen for Peter Julian and Larry Miller for Richard M. Harris.

 

Associate Members present: Kevin Sorenson.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michael Holden, Analyst; Jennifer Paul, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Finance: Carol Nelder-Corvari, Director, International Trade Policy Division; Maxime Lavoie, Senior Economist, Tariffs and Market Access. Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade: Alexandra Bugailiskis, Assistant Deputy Minister, Latin America and the Carribbean; Matthew Kronby, Director General, Trade Law Bureau. Department of Human Resources and Skills Development: Pierre Bouchard, Director, Bilateral and Regional Labour Affairs.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday September 17, 2009, the Committee resumed its study of the Defence of Supply Management at the World Trade Organization.
 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted on Thursday March 12, 2009, the Committee resumed its study of Canada-South America Trade Relations (Canada-Brazil).
 

At 11:55 a.m. John Cannis took the Chair.

 

At 12:00 p.m. Lee Richardson took the Chair.

 

At 12:08, the sitting was suspended.

 

At 12:14, the Committee resumed sitting in public.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted on Thursday March 12, 2009, the Committee resumed its study of Canada-South America Trade Relations (Canada-Colombia).
 

Carol Nelder-Corvari and Alexandra Bugailiskis made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 1:07 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
