The Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security met in camera at 10:03 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Garry Breitkreuz, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Garry Breitkreuz, Bonnie Brown, Hon. Roy Cullen, Hon. Ujjal Dosanjh, Dave MacKenzie, Serge Ménard, Rick Norlock, Penny Priddy and Ève-Mary Thaï Thi Lac.

 

Acting Members present: Cheryl Gallant for Colin Mayes, Hon. Marlene Jennings for Hon. Sue Barnes and Dave Van Kesteren for Gord Brown.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lyne Casavant, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security report to the House that the Member for Beauce has refused to testify before the Committee on matters relating to national security, and that the Committee recommends that the House order the Member for Beauce to appear before the Committee on a date and time to be determined by this Committee;

And that, Ms. Julie Couillard having been invited to appear before the Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 and having refused to appear, this Committee send for her and her relevant papers and records by summons and that the summons be for a date and time to be determined by this Committee;

And that, in the event Ms. Julie Couillard declines to appear, the Chair on behalf of the Committee report to the House seeking an order to compel her to attend.

 

It was agreed, — That the summons to Julie Couillard be for her to appear on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, at 9:00 a.m.

 

At 10:38 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
