The Subcommittee on International Human Rights of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development met in a televised session at 12:06 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Scott Reid, presiding.

Members of the Subcommittee present: Hon. Jason Kenney, Wayne Marston, Scott Reid, Mario Silva and David Sweet.

Acting Members present: Johanne Deschamps for Caroline St-Hilaire.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Marcus Pistor, Analyst ; Robert Dufresne, Analyst.

Witnesses: Amnesty International: Hilary Homes, Campaigner, International Justice, Security and Human Rights. Canadian Coalition for the Rights of Children: Kathy Vandergrift, Chairperson, Board of Directors.

Pursuant to the motion adopted by the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development, November 13, 2007 and the motion adopted by the Subcommittee, March 11, 2008, the Subcommittee resumed its study of the Omar Khadr case.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

The Subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Subcommittee business.

At 1:08 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 1:14 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

It was agreed, — That Craig Forcese be invited to appear on the Omar Khadr case on May 26, 2008.

At 1:51 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 1:51 p.m., the sitting resumed.

At 1:58 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
