The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met at 9:02 a.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Vice-Chair, Lloyd St. Amand, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Omar Alghabra, Mike Allen, David Anderson, Catherine Bell, Ken Boshcoff, Claude DeBellefeuille, Christian Ouellet, Lloyd St. Amand, Alan Tonks and Bradley R. Trost.

 

Acting Members present: Harold Albrecht for Leon Benoit, Dennis Bevington for Catherine Bell, Ken Epp for Richard Harris and Mike Wallace for Richard Harris.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages, Analyst. House of Commons: Maxime Ricard, Procedural Clerk.

 

Appearing: Hon. Gary Lunn, Minister of Natural Resources.

 

Witnesses: Department of Natural Resources: Sue Kirby, Assistant Deputy Minister, Energy Sector; Dave McCauley, Acting Director, Uranium and Radioactive Waste Division; Richard Tobin, Assistant Deputy Minister; Philip Jennings, Assistant Deputy Minister, Major Projects Management Office.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Tuesday October 30, 2007, the Committee commenced consideration of Bill C-5, An Act respecting civil liability and compensation for damage in case of a nuclear incident "Nuclear Liability and Compensation Act".
 

The Minister, Hon. Gary Lunn, made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(5), the Committee commenced consideration of the Supplementary Estimates (A) 2007-2008: Vote 1a, 5a, 10a, 15a and 30a under Natural Resources referred to the Committee on Tuesday, October 30, 2007.
 

The Minister, Hon. Gary Lunn, made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 11:01 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
