The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met in a televised session at 11:02 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Leon Benoit, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Omar Alghabra, Mike Allen, David Anderson, Catherine Bell, Leon Benoit, Ken Boshcoff, Claude DeBellefeuille, Christian Ouellet, Lloyd St. Amand, Alan Tonks and Bradley R. Trost.

 

Acting Members present: Christiane Gagnon for Christian Ouellet, Cheryl Gallant for Richard Harris and David J. McGuinty for Alan Tonks.

 

Other Members present: Hon. Carolyn Bennett, Lui Temelkovski and Hon. Robert Thibault.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages, Analyst. House of Commons: Catherine Cuerrier, Committee Clerk.

 

Appearing: Hon. Tony Clement, Minister of Health.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on January 15, 2008, the Committee resumed its study of nuclear safety issues, including safety issues at the Chalk River nuclear reactor.
 

Sheila Fraser made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 12:02 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

Linda Keen made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 1:02 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
