The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met in a televised session at 9:03 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Fabian Manning, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Mike Allen, Raynald Blais, Hon. Gerry Byrne, Blaine Calkins, Randy Kamp, Gerald Keddy, Yvon Lévesque, Hon. Lawrence MacAulay, Fabian Manning and Bill Matthews.

 

Acting Members present: Catherine Bell for Peter Stoffer, Serge Cardin for Raynald Blais, Paul Crête for Raynald Blais and Hon. Ken Dryden for Scott Simms.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: François Côté, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. Loyola Hearn, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans.

 

Witnesses: Department of Fisheries and Oceans: Michelle d'Auray, Deputy Minsiter; George Da Pont, Commissioner, Canadian Coast Guard; Cal Hegge, Assistant Deputy Minister, Human Resources and Corporate Services; Claire Dansereau, Associate Deputy Minister; David Bevan, Assistant Deputy Minister, Fisheries and Aquaculture Management. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to a briefing on the Department of Fisheries and Oceans.
 

Hon. Loyola Hearn made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 10:05 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:11 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on November 14, 2007, the Committee resumed its study of the Operation and Maintenance of Small Craft Harbours.
 

Allan Gaudry made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 10:54 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
