The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met by videoconference at 9:04 a.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, Yasmin Ratansi, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Sylvie Boucher, Patricia Davidson, Nicole Demers, Johanne Deschamps, Nina Grewal, Irene Mathyssen, Hon. Maria Minna, Hon. Anita Neville, Glen Douglas Pearson, Yasmin Ratansi and Bruce Stanton.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Shahrzad Mobasher Fard, Analyst; Clara Morgan, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: University of British Columbia: Claire Young, Senior Associate Dean and Professor, Faculty of Law. University of Victoria: David Good, Professor, School of Public Administration.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on November 21 2007, the Committee resumed its study on Gender Budgets.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 10:58 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:59 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 28, 2008, the Committee commenced its study of Women's Ski Jumping at the 2010 Olympic Games.
 

On motion of Irene Mathyssen, it was agreed, — That, the International Olympic Committee should recognize and include women’s ski jumping as an event at the 2010 Vancouver-Whistler Olympic Games, that the government should encourage the International Olympic Committee to do so and, that this be reported to the House.

 

At 11:02 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
