The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met in camera at 9:05 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Yasmin Ratansi, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Sylvie Boucher, Patricia Davidson, Nicole Demers, Johanne Deschamps, Nina Grewal, Irene Mathyssen, Hon. Maria Minna, Hon. Anita Neville, Glen Douglas Pearson, Yasmin Ratansi and Bruce Stanton.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Shahrzad Mobasher Fard, Analyst ; Clara Morgan, Analyst ; Karine Richer, Analyst.

Witnesses: Library of Parliament: Alexandre Laurin, Analyst, Economics Division; Lydia Scratch, Analyst, Political and Social Affairs Division; Alex Smith, Analyst, Political and Social Affairs Division.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on November 21 2007, the Committee resumed its study on Gender Budgets.

Alex Smith and Lydia Scratch made statements and, with the other witness, answered questions.

At 10:24 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:29 a.m., the sitting resumed.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That, for its study on gender budgets the Committee invite expert witnesses February 28 and March 13 and the Department of Finance March 11, 2008.

It was agreed, — That, for its study on gender budgets the Committee invite Privy Council officials Anita Biguzs, Richard Tardif, and Saaqib Ahmad and Treasury Board officials Jeanne Flemming and Daniel Ricard to appear before the Committee March 4 and 6 2008, and that they be summoned if necessary.

At 10:58 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
