The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development met in camera at 11:10 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Kevin Sorenson, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Vivian Barbot, Hon. Raymond Chan, Paul Dewar, Peter Goldring, Denis Lebel, Hon. Keith Martin, Deepak Obhrai, Kevin Sorenson and Hon. Bryon Wilfert.

 

Acting Members present: Sylvie Boucher for Deepak Obhrai, Rodger Cuzner for Bernard Patry, Johanne Deschamps for Caroline St-Hilaire and Daryl Kramp for Wajid Khan.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: James Lee, Analyst; Natalie Mychajlyszyn, Analyst; Gerald Schmitz, Principal.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on November 20, 2007, the Committee resumed its study of Canada's mission in Afghanistan.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee adopt the draft report as presented to it by the analysts and that if it cannot be presented in the House by December 14, 2007, an Order of the House be sought to present the report to the Clerk of the House while the House stands adjourned during December 2007 and January 2008.

 

It was agreed, — That the preliminary report be adopted as a Report to the House and that the Chair or his designate present it to the House.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analyst be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(1)(a), the Committee authorize the printing of a brief dissenting and / or supplementary opinions as appendices to this report immediately after the signature of the Chair, that the opinions be submitted electronically to the Clerk of the Committee, in both official languages, on or before January 1, 2008.

 

At 12:18 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
