The Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Merv Tweed, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Mauril Bélanger, Don H. Bell, Robert Carrier, Ed Fast, Brian Jean, Mario Laframboise, Merv Tweed and Hon. Joseph Volpe.

 

Acting Members present: Paul Dewar for Peter Julian, Marc Lemay for Robert Carrier and David Tilson for Jeff Watson.

 

Associate Members present: Mike Allen.

 

Other Members present: Hon. Michael D. Chong and Lui Temelkovski.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: John Christopher, Analyst; Allison Padova, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Union of Postal Workers: Deborah Bourque, National President. Canada Post Corporation: Gordon Feeney, Chairman, Board of Directors; Moya Greene, President and Chief Executive Officer. Canadian International Mail Association: Gwyneth Howell, Executive Director; Gordon Taschuk, General Manager, Kirk Integrated Marketing Services Ltd.; Evan Zelikovitz, Consultant, Public Affairs.

 

On motion of Mauril Bélanger, it was agreed on division, — That the motion adopted on Wednesday, February 7, 2007 concerning the swearing in of witnesses appearing on the study on Canada Post be rescinded.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, February 7, 2007, the Committee commenced its study of Canada Post.
 

Deborah Bourque and Gwyneth Howell made statements and, with Evan Zelikovitz and Gordon Taschuk, answered questions.

 

At 4:32 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:36 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Moya Greene made a statement and, with Gordon Feeney, answered questions.

 

At 5:35 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
