The Subcommittee on Committee Budgets of the Liaison Committee met in camera at 1:07 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Dean Allison, Guy Lauzon, Rob Merrifield, Paul Szabo and Tom Wappel.

 

Other Members present: Leon Benoit, James Bezan, Rick Casson, Colin Mayes, Pauline Picard and Alan Tonks.

 

In attendance: Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food: Carol Chafe, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Joint Committee on Scrutiny of Regulations: Michael MacPherson, Joint Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on International Trade: Normand Radford, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Natural Resources: Diane Deschamps, Committee Clerk. Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development: Bonnie Charron, Clerk of the Committee. House of Commons: Karen Thriepland, Coordinator, Logistics Services; Chantal Proulx, Liaison Committee and Finance Officer; Louise Lalonde, Finance Officer; Nathalie Clairoux, Administration and Logistics Officer .

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 107(1), the Subcommittee resumed its study on Budget submissions.
 

The Chair gave a presentation on the financial status of the global envelope for committee activities.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food be granted a travel budget of $129,261 to travel to Penticton, British Columbia; Olds, Alberta; Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; and Gimli, Manitoba, from April 15 to 19, 2007, in relation to its study on Agricultural Policy Framework.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food be granted a travel budget of $103,015 to travel to Truro, Nova Scotia; Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island; Fredericton, New Brunswick; Quebec, Quebec; and Stratford, Ontario, from April 22 to 26, 2007, in relation to its study on Agricultural Policy Framework.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Joint Committee on Scrutiny of Regulations be granted a general operating budget of $12,810.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on International Trade be granted a travel budget of $32,912 to travel to Washington, DC, from April 25 to 27, 2007, in relation to its study on Canada/United States Trade.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on International Trade be granted a travel budget of $187,533 to travel to Brussels, Belgium; Dubai, UAE; Sanaa, Yemen; Doha, Qatar; and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from May 10 to 21, 2007, in relation to its study on Canada’s Trade Policy.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on International Trade be granted a travel budget of $152,933 to travel to Jakarta, Indonesia; Singapore, Malaysia; and Hanoi, Vietnam, from May 13 to 21, 2007, in relation to its study on Canada’s Trade Policy.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Natural Resources be granted a travel budget of $34,001 to travel to Churchill Falls, Newfoundland and Labrador, on April 30, 2007, in relation to its study on the greening of electricity consumption in Canada.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development be granted an operational budget of $99,450 for its study on Bill C-44, An Act to amend the Canadian Human Rights Act.

 

At 1:55 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
