The Subcommittee on Committee Budgets of the Liaison Committee met in camera at 1:05 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Vice-Chair, Judy Sgro, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Art Hanger, Guy Lauzon, Rob Merrifield, Hon. Judy Sgro, Paul Szabo and Tom Wappel.

 

Other Members present: Hon. Shawn Murphy, Pauline Picard, James Rajotte and Gerry Ritz.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jack Stilborn, Analyst. Standing Committee on Public Accounts: Georges Etoka, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology: James M. Latimer, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights: Diane Diotte, Clerk of the Committee. House of Commons: Louise Lalonde, Finance Officer; Chantal Proulx, Liaison Committee and Finance Officer.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 107(1), the Subcommittee resumed its study on Budget submissions.
 

The Clerk gave a presentation on the financial status of the global envelope for committee activities.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food be granted a supplementary budget of $48,700 for its study on Canadian Wheat Board.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Public Accounts be granted a service contract budget of $24,965 for its study of the Review of the roles and responsibilities of the Treasury Board Secretariat.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology be granted a travel budget of $193,552 to travel to Halifax, Montreal, Granby, Oshawa, Toronto, Windsor and Edmonton, in relation to its study of the challenges facing the Canadian Manufacturing Sector, from November 20 to 24, 2006.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights be granted a budget of $53,800 for its study of Bill C-10, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (minimum penalties for offences involving firearms) and to make a consequential amendment to another Act.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights be granted a travel budget of $32,308 to travel to Toronto, in relation to its study of Bill C-10, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (minimum penalties for offences involving firearms) and to make a consequential amendment to another Act, on November 23, 2006.

 

At 1:50 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
