The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met in a televised session at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, the Hon. Shawn Murphy, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: David Christopherson, Brian Fitzpatrick, Jean-Yves Laforest, Mike Lake, Hon. Shawn Murphy, Pierre Poilievre, Jean-Yves Roy, Hon. Judy Sgro, David Sweet, John Williams and Borys Wrzesnewskyj.

 

Acting Members present: Meili Faille for Jean-Yves Laforest and Michael Savage for Pablo Rodriguez.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lydia Scratch, Analyst; Alex Smith, Analyst. House of Commons: Gregory Tardi, Senior Parliamentary Counsel (Legal); Steven Chaplin, Principal Parliamentary Counsel (Legal).

 

Witnesses: As an individual: Keith Estabrooks. Royal Canadian Mounted Police: Paul Gauvin, Deputy Commissioner, Corporate Management and Comptrollership; André Girard, Staff sergeant, Criminal Intelligence & Analysis Section. As individuals: Pierre Lavoie, Superintendent (Retired), Royal Canadian Mounted Police; John Spice, Assistant Commissioner (Retired), Royal Canadian Mounted Police; Bernie Corrigan, Assistant Commissioner; Ron Lewis, Staff Sergeant (Retired), Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(g), the Committee resumed consideration of Chapter 9, Pension and Insurance Administration - Royal Canadian Mounted Police of the November 2006 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.
 

Paul Gauvin, André Girard, John Spice and Pierre Lavoie made opening statements and answered questions.

 

Ron Lewis, Bernard Corrigan and Keith Estabrooks answered questions.

 

At 5:24 p.m., Brian Fitzpatrick took the Chair.

At 5:28 p.m., Shawn Murphy resumed on the Chair.

 

On motion of David Christopherson, it was agreed, — That the Committee do sit untill 6:30 p.m. or untill the list of speakers has been exhausted.

 

John Spice made a statement.

 

At 6:22 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
