The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met at 11:03 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Diane Marleau, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Harold Albrecht, Omar Alghabra, Raymond Bonin, Daryl Kramp, Hon. Diane Marleau, James Moore, Richard Nadeau, Peggy Nash, Louise Thibault and Chris Warkentin.

 

Acting Members present: Colleen Beaumier for Hon. Navdeep Bains and Steven Blaney for Mike Wallace.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Guy Beaumier, Analyst; Philippe Le Goff, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants: Martha Denning, Principal, Public Sector Accounting; Ronald Salole, Vice-President, Standards.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Louise Thibault moved, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)c), during the next two meetings, the Committee examine in detail the budget cuts announced by Treasury Board on September 25, 2006.

 

On motion of Daryl Kramp, it was agreed, — That the motion be amended by replacing the words “during the next” with the word “for”.

 

After debate, the question was put on the motion, as amended, and it was agreed to.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on Accrual Budgeting.
 

Ronald Salole made a statement and, with the other witness, answered questions.

 

At 12:34 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
