The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met in camera at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Chair, James Rajotte, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: André Arthur, Hon. Scott Brison, Paule Brunelle, Hon. Gerry Byrne, Colin Carrie, Brian Masse, Hon. Dan McTeague, James Rajotte, Bev Shipley, Dave Van Kesteren and Robert Vincent.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Geoff Regan for Hon. Maurizio Bevilacqua.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lalita Acharya, Analyst; Tyler Kustra, Analyst; Dan Shaw, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on March 21, 2007, the Committee resumed its study of Canada's Access to Medicines Regime.
 

It was agreed, — That the draft letter from the Committee to the Minister regarding Canada's Access to Medicines Regime be agreed to.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the orders made on Wednesday, March 21, 2007 regarding meetings during the months of May and June 2007 be discharged.

 

It was agreed, — That, in relation to its study of the Counterfeiting and Piracy of Intellectual Property, the Committee hold in camera meetings on Monday, May 28, 2007 and Wednesday, June 6, 2007.

 

It was agreed, — That, in relation to its study of the Main Estimates 2006-2007, the Committee invite the Minister of Industry, officials from the Department of Industry and representatives of the Canadian Tourism Commission to appear before the Committee on Wednesday, May 30, 2007.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee begin consideration of Bill C-47, An Act respecting the protection of marks related to the Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games and protection against certain misleading business associations and making a related amendment to the Trade-marks Act on Monday, June 4, 2007 if the Bill has been referred to the Committee by that time.

 

It was agreed, — That the Comittee study Gas Prices and Refinery Margins; and that hearings be tentatively planned for Monday, June 11, 2007, Wednesday, June 13, 2007 and Monday, June 18, 2007.

 

At 4:17 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
