The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, James Rajotte, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: André Arthur, Colin Carrie, Paul Crête, Brian Masse, James Rajotte, Bev Shipley, Dave Van Kesteren and Robert Vincent.

 

Acting Members present: Omar Alghabra for Susan Kadis, Ken Boshcoff for Hon. Belinda Stronach, Hon. Jim Karygiannis for Hon. Dan McTeague, Massimo Pacetti for Hon. Jean C. Lapierre and Scott Simms for Susan Kadis.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lalita Acharya, Analyst; Dan Shaw, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canada Foundation for Innovation: Suzanne Corbeil, Vice-President, External Relations. Electro-Federation Canada: Wayne J. Edwards, Vice-President, Electrical Equipment Manufacturers Association of Canada; Milos Jancik, President and Chief Executive Officer. Canada Foundation for Innovation: Eliot Phillipson, President and Chief Executive Officer. Electro-Federation Canada: Ernie Reynolds, Vice-President and General Manager, DSG-Canusa. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study of Challenges Facing the Canadian Manufacturing Sector.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

By unanimous consent, Paul Crête moved, — That during the Committee's trip the week of November 20, 2006, the meetings be for the sole purpose of hearing witnesses.

 

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.

 

At 5:47 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
