The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 3:34 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Brian Pallister, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Diane Ablonczy, Paul Crête, Dean Del Mastro, Rick Dykstra, Hon. John McCallum, Hon. John McKay, Brian Pallister and Hon. Robert Thibault.

Acting Members present: Hon. Ralph Goodale for Massimo Pacetti, Pat Martin for Judy Wasylycia-Leis, Louis Plamondon for Thierry St-Cyr and Hon. Gerry Ritz for Mike Wallace.

Associate Members present: Rick Norlock.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Alexandre Laurin, Analyst.

Witnesses: Province of Saskatchewan: Hon. Lorne Calvert, Premier. Real Property Association of Canada: Chris Conway, Manager, Government Relations. Canadian Association of Income Funds: George Kesteven, President. Child Care Advocacy Association of Canada: Monica Lysack, Executive Director. Canadian Energy Infrastructure Group: Robert Michaleski, President and Chief Executive Officer , Pembina Pipeline Income Fund. Child Care Advocacy Association of Canada: Nancy Peckford, member, Council of Advocates. Canadian Labour Congress: Erin Weir, Economist.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Tuesday, May 15, 2007, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-52, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on March 19, 2007.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

On motion of John McKay, it was agreed that Erin Weir, Monica Lysack and Nancy Peckford be invited to return before the committee.

At 4:31 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:34 p.m., the sitting resumed.

At 5:32 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
