The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Yasmin Ratansi, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Patricia Davidson, Nicole Demers, Irene Mathyssen, Yasmin Ratansi, Joy Smith, Bruce Stanton and Hon. Belinda Stronach.

Acting Members present: Vivian Barbot for Johanne Deschamps, Hon. Carolyn Bennett for Hon. Anita Neville and Sukh Dhaliwal for Hon. Maria Minna.

Associate Members present: Daniel Petit.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Julie Cool, Analyst ; Nathalie Pothier, Analyst.

Witnesses: Department of Human Resources and Social Development: Barbara Glover, Acting Director General, Labour Market Policy. Statistics Canada: Colin Lindsay, Senior Analyst, Social and Aboriginal Statistics Divison; Sylvie Michaud, Director, Income Statistics. Department of Human Resources and Social Development: Virginia Poter, Director General, Economic Security and Policy. Statistics Canada: Leroy Stone, Associate Director General, Unpaid Work Analysis. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, May 30th, 2006, the Committee resumed its study of economic security of senior women.

Monica Townsen, Virginia Potter, Barbara Glover, Colin Lindsay and Sylvie Michaud made statements and, with Leroy Stone, answered questions.

At 5:26 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
