The Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics met at 9:31 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Tom Wappel, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Sukh Dhaliwal, Carole Lavallée, Glen Douglas Pearson, Scott Reid, Bruce Stanton, David Tilson, Dave Van Kesteren, Robert Vincent, Mike Wallace and Tom Wappel.

 

Acting Members present: Paul Dewar for Pat Martin.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Kristen Douglas, Analyst; Nancy Holmes, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on May 10, 2007, the Committee resumed its study of Access to Information request for the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade internal report entitled "Afghanistan 2006: Good Governance, Democratic Development and Human Rights".
 

On motion of Mike Wallace, it was agreed, — That Leonard Edwards, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade appear at the next scheduled meeting of the Committee.

 

On motion of Glen Douglas Pearson, it was agreed, — That Gwyn Kutz, Francine Archambault, Gary Switzer and Jennifer Nixon (Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade) be summoned and required to appear at Ottawa, bring all relevant papers and documents and give evidence before the Standing Committee of Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics of the House of Commons of Canada on matters relating to its study of Access to Information requests for the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade internal report entitled ''Afghanistan 2006: Good Governance, Democratic Development and Human Rights'' pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) at its next sitting at a time and place to be determined, and to remain in attendance until duly discharged.

 

On motion of Paul Dewar, it was agreed, — That the next meeting of the Committee be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2007.

 

At 10:32 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
