The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met at 11:08 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Norman Doyle, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dave Batters, Barry Devolin, Norman Doyle, Meili Faille, Nina Grewal, Hon. Jim Karygiannis, Ed Komarnicki, Bill Siksay, Hon. Andrew Telegdi and Blair Wilson.

 

Acting Members present: Brian Murphy for Omar Alghabra.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Andrew Kitching, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

On motion of Jim Karygiannis, it was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration hold hearings on the issue of undocumented and temporary foreign workers; that the Committee invite expert witnesses and stakeholders, including but not limited to, skilled workers and trade unions; and that Members of the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration provide to the Clerk of the Committee the names and contact information of prospective witnesses by Friday, May 11, 2007.

 

At 11:22 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:26 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, June 21, 2006, the Committee resumed its study of Refugee Issues.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

At 12:43 p.m., the Vice-Chair, Andrew Telegdi, took the Chair.

At 12:45 p.m., the Chair, Norman Doyle, took the Chair.

 

At 12:57 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
