The Speaker informed the House that, pursuant to Standing Order 28(4), he had recalled the House today for the sole purpose of granting the Royal Assent to certain Bills.

Le Président informe la Chambre que, conformément à l'article 28(4) du Règlement, il a convoqué la Chambre à la seule fin d'accorder la sanction royale à certains projets de loi.

The Speaker informed the House that the Honourable Deputy of the Governor General will proceed to the Senate today at 5:00 p.m., for the purpose of giving the Royal Assent to certain Bills.

Le Président informe la Chambre que l'honorable suppléant de la Gouverneure générale se rendra au Sénat aujourd'hui, à 17 heures, pour donner la sanction royale à certains projets de loi.

Messages were received from the Senate as follows:

— ORDERED: That a message be sent to the House of Commons to acquaint that House that the Senate has passed Bill C-34, An Act for granting to Her Majesty certain sums of money for the public service of Canada for the financial year ending March 31, 2005.

Des messages sont reçus du Sénat comme suit :

— ORDONNÉ : Qu'un message soit transmis à la Chambre des communes pour l'informer que le Sénat a adopté le projet de loi C-34, Loi portant octroi à Sa Majesté de crédits pour l'administration publique fédérale pendant l'exercice se terminant le 31 mars 2005.

— ORDERED: That a message be sent to the House of Commons to acquaint that House that the Senate has passed Bill C-35, An Act for granting to Her Majesty certain sums of money for the public service of Canada for the financial year ending March 31, 2005.

A Message was received from the Honourable Louise Charron, Puisne Judge of the Supreme Court of Canada, in her capacity as Deputy of the Governor General, desiring the immediate attendance of the Commons in the Senate.

Un message est reçu de l'honorable Louise Charron, juge puîné de la Cour suprême du Canada, en sa qualité de suppléant de la Gouverneure générale, qui exprime le désir que les Communes se rendent immédiatement au Sénat.

Accordingly, the Speaker, with the Commons, proceeded to the Senate.

En conséquence, le Président, accompagné des Communes, se rend au Sénat.

The Commons returned to the Chamber.

Whereupon, the Speaker reported that when the Commons had been in the Senate, the Honourable Deputy of the Governor General was pleased to give, in Her Majesty's name, the Royal Assent to the following Bills:

Sur ce, le Président fait connaître que, lorsque les Communes se sont rendues au Sénat, il a plu à l'honorable suppléant de la Gouverneure générale de donner, au nom de Sa Majesté, la sanction royale aux projets de loi suivants :

Bill S-10, A second Act to harmonize federal law of the Province of Quebec and to amend certain Acts in order to ensure that each language version takes into account the common law and the civil law — Chapter No. 25;

The Speaker also reported that he had addressed the Honourable Deputy of the Governor General as follows:

Whereupon, the Clerk of the Senate, by Command of the Honourable Deputy of the Governor General, did say:

“In Her Majesty's name, the Honourable Deputy of the Governor General thanks Her Loyal Subjects, accepts their benevolence, and assents to these Bills.”
