The Standing Committee on Transport met at 9:09 a.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Roger Gallaway, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Don H. Bell, Raymond Bonin, Robert Carrier, Hon. Roger Gallaway, Jim Gouk, Hon. Charles Hubbard, Peter Julian, Francis Scarpaleggia and Caroline St-Hilaire.

 

Acting Members present: Brian Pallister for Andrew Scheer.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: John Christopher, Analyst; Allison Padova, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Air Transport Security Authority: Jacques Duchesneau, President and Chief Executive Officer; Mark Duncan, Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer; Michael McLaughlin, Vice-President and Chief Financial Officier.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to a briefing on Airport Security.
 

Jacques Duchesneau made a statement and, with Mark Duncan and Michael McLaughlin answered questions.

 

At 9:11 a.m., Jim Gouk took the Chair.

 

At 9:58 a.m., Caroline St-Hilaire took the Chair.

 

At 10:03 a.m., Jim Gouk took the Chair.

 

Caroline St-Hilaire gave notice of the following motion: That the Chair of the Standing Committee on Transport write to the Minister of Transport to obtain in writing his formal written commitment that officials of the Transport department will notify and consult the Committee prior to publication in the Canada Gazette of any regulations to reduce the number of flight attendants on board air carriers, request previously made during one of the Committee's meeting.

 

At 10:47 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
