The Subcommittee on International Trade, Trade Disputes and Investment of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N Centre Block, the Chair, John Cannis, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: John Cannis, Hon. Mark Eyking, Hon. Marlene Jennings, Peter Julian and Ted Menzies.

 

Acting Members present: Johanne Deschamps for Pierre A. Paquette and Deepak Obhrai for Belinda Stronach.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Peter Berg, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Forest Products Association of Canada: Avrim Lazar, President and Chief Executive Officer; W. Joel Neuheimer, Director, International Affairs. Canadian Fertilizer Institute: Clyde Graham, Vice President, Strategy and Alliances.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Subcommittee resumed its study on Emerging Market Trade Strategy.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:49 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:54 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
The Subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Subcommittee business.
 

On motion of Marlene Jennings, it was agreed, — That the Liaison Committee be requested to transfer the necessary funds from the international travel envelope into the domestic travel envelope as to enable the Subcommittee on International Trade, Trade Dispute and Investment to visit various cities in Canada for the period ending August 2005, in relation to its ongoing study of emerging markets and Canada-US relations.

 

At 5:19 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
