The Subcommittee on Human Rights and International Development of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met in a televised session at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C Centre Block, the Chair, Navdeep Bains, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Navdeep Bains, Diane Bourgeois, Stockwell Day, Peter Goldring, Wajid Khan and Hon. Paddy Torsney.

 

Acting Members present: Helena Guergis for Stockwell Day.

 

Other Members present: Jason Kenney.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: James Lee, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. Aileen Carroll, Minister of International Cooperation.

 

Witnesses: Canadian International Development Agency: Jennifer Benimadhu, Vice-president, Canadian Partnership Branch; Ric Cameron, Senior Vice-President.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Subcommittee on April 20, 2005, the Subcommittee resumed its study of Evaluation of NGO Project Facility Fund.
 

The Minister made a statement and with the other witnesses answered questions.

 

At 5:00, the sitting was suspended.

At 5:04, the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Subcommittee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Subcommittee hold meetings on human rights and development aid in Haiti, on human rights in Cuba; on the new United Nations Convention on Disability and CIDA's policies as they relate to people with disabilities in developing countries, and on the situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Canada's policy towards the country.

 

At 5:21 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
