The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met in camera at 3:36 p.m. this day, in Room 308 West Block, the Chair, John Williams, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, Gary Carr, David Christopherson, Brian Fitzpatrick, Sébastien Gagnon, Mark Holland, Daryl Kramp, Hon. Walt Lastewka, Hon. Shawn Murphy, Benoît Sauvageau, John Williams and Borys Wrzesnewskyj.

 

Acting Members present: Pat Martin for David Christopherson.

 

Associate Members present: Pat Martin.

 

In attendance: House of Commons: Rob Walsh, Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel. Library of Parliament: Brian O'Neal, Analyst; Marc-André Pigeon, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Office of the Auditor General of Canada: Sheila Fraser, Auditor General of Canada; Frank Vandenhoven, Principal; Douglas Timmins, Assistant Auditor General. Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat: Charles-Antoine St-Jean, Comptroller General of Canada, Comptroller General's Office ; John Morgan, Executive Director, Financial Management and Accounting Policy Directorate. Department of Finance: Peter DeVries, Special Advisor, Deputy Minister's Office.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Rob Walsh made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 4:17 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

 

At 4:22 p.m., the Committee resumed sitting in public.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(g), the Committee commenced consideration of the Public Accounts of Canada 2004 referred to the Committee on October 21, 2004.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:29 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
