NEWS RELEASE
Acquisition of submarines by the Canadian Forces
Ottawa, February 03, 2005 - Mr. Pat O'Brien, M.P. (London-Fanshawe), Chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs wishes to announce that the following motion was adopted at the Committee's meeting today :
“That the Committee issue a public statement to express its concern over the excessive length of time it is taking to receive documents from the Department of National Defence requested in relation to the Committee’s study on the acquisition of submarines by the Canadian Forces and the use of the cost of translating documents as a means of further delaying the distribution of them to the Committee, and that the statement be released to the media by 2:00 pm Thursday, February 3, 2005.”
