The Standing Committee on Official Languages met at 9:05 a.m. this day, in Room 269 West Block, the Chair, Pablo Rodriguez, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Guy André, Françoise Boivin, Jean-Claude D'Amours, Odina Desrochers, Yvon Godin, Pierre Poilievre, Pablo Rodriguez, Andrew Scheer, Raymond Simard and Maurice Vellacott.

 

Acting Members present: Russ Powers for Marc Godbout.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Marion Ménard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Fédération nationale des conseils scolaires francophones: Madeleine Chevalier, Chair; Paul Charbonneau, Executive Director.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(f), the Committee resumed consideration of the study on a Government Report entitled: The next Act: New momentum for Canada's linguistic duality - The Action Plan for Official Languages.
 

Madeleine Chevalier made a statement and, with the other witness, answered questions.

 

At 10:23 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

 

At 10:28 a.m., the Committee resumed sitting in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That a letter be sent to the Bell Globemedia consortium informing it of the Committee members’ concerns regarding the access of Canada’s anglophone and francophone communities to coverage of the 2010 and 2012 Olympic Games and that the Chair of the Committee meet with one or more representatives of the consortium to underline these concerns.

 

At 10:49 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
