The Standing Committee on Industry, Natural Resources, Science and Technology met at 9:02 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Brent St. Denis, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Marc Boulianne, Michael Chong, Paul Crête, Hon. Marlene Jennings, Brian Masse, Lynn Myers, Brent St. Denis and Bradley R. Trost.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Andrew Kitching, Analyst; Dan Shaw, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Association of Canadian Advertisers: Ronald S. Lund, President; James Musgrove, Legal Counsel, Lang Michener; Robert Reaume, Vice-President, Policy and Research. Canadian Bar Association: Madeleine Renaud, Chair, National Competition Law Section; Tamra L. Thomson, Director, Legislation and Law Reform. Retail Council of Canada: Derek Nighbor, Vice-President, National Affairs. Competition Policy Group: J. William Rowley, Chairman. Canadian Federation of Agriculture: Paul Mistele, Vice-President, Ontario; Clinton Monchuk, Policy Analyst.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Tuesday, November 16, 2004, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-19, An Act to amend the Competition Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts.
 

Robert Reaume, Tamra Thomson and Madeleine Renaud made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 10:01 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:03 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Derek Nighbor, J. William Rowley and Paul Mistele made statements and, with Clinton Monchuk, answered questions.

 

At 10:57 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
