The Standing Committee on Industry, Natural Resources, Science and Technology met at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 308 West Block, the Chair, Brent St. Denis, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Michael Chong, Paul Crête, Brian Masse, Lynn Myers, Andy Savoy, Werner Schmidt, Brent St. Denis and Bradley R. Trost.

 

Acting Members present: Christiane Gagnon for Serge Cardin.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Dan Shaw, Analyst; Andrew Kitching, Analyst; Jennifer Wispinski, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Industry: Gilles Gauthier, Director, Corporate and Insolvency Law Policy Directorate, Policy Sector; Wayne Lennon, Senior Project Leader, Corporate and Insolvency Law Policy Directorate, Policy Sector; Coleen Kirby, Manager, Policy Section, Corporations Canada.

 

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of Committee business

 

On motion of Brian Masse, it was agreed, — That the proposed budget for the study of Bill C-21, An Act respecting not-for-profit corporations and other corporations without share capital, in the amount of $ 63,200, for the period of December 9, 2004, to March 31, 2005, be adopted and that the Chair present the said budget to the Budget Subcommittee of the Liaison Committee.

 

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Tuesday, November 23, 2004, the Committee commenced consideration of Bill C-21, An Act respecting not-for-profit corporations and other corporations without share capital.
 

The Chair called Clause 1.

 

Gilles Gauthier made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 5:23 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
