The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met at 11:03 a.m. this day, in Room 536 Wellington Building, the Vice-Chair, Gerald Keddy, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Larry Bagnell, Raynald Blais, John Cummins, Rodger Cuzner, Gerald Keddy, Bill Matthews, Shawn Murphy and Jean-Yves Roy.

 

Acting Members present: Nathan Cullen for Peter Stoffer.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: François Côté, Analyst; Alan Nixon, Principal.

 

Witnesses: Department of Fisheries and Oceans: Jean-Claude Bouchard, Associate Deputy Minister; François-Bernard Côté, Senior General Counsel, Legal Services; Dorothee Kieser, Fish Health Pathobiologist; Max Stanfield, Director, Resource Management - Pacific, Arctic and Inland; Allison Webb, Acting Director, Sustainable Aquaculture. Canadian SableFish Association: Eric Wickham, Executive Director.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to a briefing session on sablefish aquaculture.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

On motion of Jean-Yves Roy, it was agreed, — That the First Report of this Committee in the 3rd Session of the 37th Parliament be adopted as a report in this session; that the Chair present the report to the House; and that, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

At 11:56 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:04 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

At 1:08 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
