Dr. BERNARD PATRY RE-ELECTED CHAIR OF THE STANDING COMMITTEE ON FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND INTERNATIONAL TRADE
Ottawa, November 02, 2004 -
The House of Commons Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade has re elected Dr. Bernard Patry, MP for Pierrefonds—Dollard, to a third term as Chair of the Committee.
Given his experience in the international arena, acquired through richly informative meetings with leading international experts and in his capacity as the first International Vice-President of the Assemblée parlementaire de la Francophonie, Bernard Patry feels that he is ready to assume the new challenges that may present themselves in terms of the government’s legislative measures and international policies.
“I am pleased and honoured by the confidence this choice shows. This is a very responsible position, and you can be sure I will do everything in my power to live up to Canadians’ expectations,” said Dr. Patry.
“We recognize that Canada has a very important role to play with regard to globalization and the impact that the findings of the studies prepared by our committee could have on the achievement of common goals,” he concluded.
