The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met in a televised session at 11:18 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D Centre Block, the Chair, Andrew Telegdi, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: David A. Anderson, Roger Clavet, Meili Faille, Hedy Fry, Rahim Jaffer, Inky Mark, Bill Siksay, Andrew Telegdi and Lui Temelkovski.

 

Acting Members present: Borys Wrzesnewskyj for Colleen Beaumier.

 

Associate Members present: Nina Grewal.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Benjamin Dolin, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Citizenship and Immigration: Daniel Jean, Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy and Program Development; Clark Goodman, Acting Director, Citizenship Division, Acting Registrar, Citizenship, Integration Branch. Canadian War Brides: Melynda Jarratt, Historian.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, October 27, 2004, the Committee resumed its study on Citizenship Issues - Briefing from the Department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada on Canadian War Brides.
 

Daniel Jean made a statement and with, Clark Goodman, answered questions.

 

At 12:07 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:11 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, October 27, 2004, the Committee resumed its study on Citizenship Issues.
 

Melynda Jarratt made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 12:45 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:58 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, - That the Committee commence consideration of a draft report on Revocation on Thursday, May 12, 2005, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

 

At 1:05 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
