The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met in a televised session at 3:22 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C Centre Block, the Chair, John Williams, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Odina Desrochers, Paul Forseth, Marlene Jennings, Hon. Walt Lastewka, Dennis Mills, Hon. Shawn Murphy, Alan Tonks and John Williams.

 

Acting Members present: Diane Ablonczy for Philip Mayfield, Bill Casey for Peter Goldring, Rodger Cuzner for Dominic LeBlanc, Monique Guay for Roger Gaudet, Christian Jobin for Hon. Joe Jordan, Derek Lee for Hon. Robert Thibault, Judi Longfield for Beth Phinney, Pat Martin for Judy Wasylycia-Leis and Vic Toews for Val Meredith.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Brian O'Neal, Analyst. House of Commons: Rob Walsh, Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel.

 

Witnesses: As an Individual: Pierre Leduc, Counsel to Gilles-André Gosselin.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(g), the Committee resumed consideration of Chapter 3, the Sponsorship Program, Chapter 4, Advertising Activities and Chapter 5, Management of Public Opinion Research of the November 2003 Report of the Auditor General of Canada referred to the Committee on February 10, 2004.
 

At 3:23 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 3:28 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Marlene Jennings moved, — That, notwithstanding the motion adopted on Friday April 23, 2004 and pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(g), Chapter 3, the Sponsorship program, Chapter 4, Advertising Activities and Chapter 5, Management of Public Opinion Research of the November 2003 Report of the Auditor General of Canada referred to the Standing Committee on Public Accounts on February 10, 2004, this Committee invite the following witnesses to appear:

Diane Ablonczy moved, — That, in relation to the study of Chapters 3, 4, and 5 of the November 2003 Report of the Auditor General of Canada regarding the Sponsorship Matter, the Standing Committee on Public Accounts request the invoices and post-mortems referred to by Mr. Claude Boulay in his testimony before the Committee.
