The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met in a televised session at 11:07 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D Centre Block, the Chair, John Williams, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Odina Desrochers, Marlene Jennings, Joe Jordan, Walt Lastewka, Shawn Murphy, Alan Tonks, Judy Wasylycia-Leis and John Williams.

 

Acting Members present: Diane Ablonczy for Val Meredith, Michel Guimond for Roger Gaudet, Peter MacKay for Paul Forseth, Dennis Mills for Steve Mahoney, Marcel Proulx for Beth Phinney, Robert Thibault for Maurizio Bevilacqua and Vic Toews for Philip Mayfield.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Brian O'Neal, Analyst. House of Commons: Stephen Knowles, Committee Clerk.

 

Witnesses: As an Individual: André Ouellet.

 

Other Participants present: KPMG: Greg McEvoy, Forensic Auditor. As an Individual: Roy Heenan, Counsel to André Ouellet.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(g), the Committee resumed consideration of Chapter 3, the Sponsorship Program, Chapter 4, Advertising Activities and Chapter 5, Management of Public Opinion Research of the November 2003 Report of the Auditor General of Canada referred to the Committee on February 10, 2004.
 

Peter MacKay moved, — That the witness be sworn in.

 

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 9; NAYS: 3.

 

The witness made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 10:50 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:55 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Questioning of the witness resumed.

 

At 12:56 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 2:05 p.m., the sitting resumed.
