The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met at 9:02 a.m. this day, in Room 371 West Block, the Chair, Paul Szabo, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Leon Benoit, Brenda Chamberlain, Paul Forseth, Anita Neville, Gilles-A. Perron, Alex Shepherd, Paul Szabo, Tony Tirabassi and Lynne Yelich.

 

Acting Members present: Derek Lee for Hon. Joe Jordan and Tom Wappel for Hon. Walt Lastewka.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Philippe Le Goff, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canada Post Corporation: Anne Joynt, Acting President and CEO; Gerard Power, Vice-President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary; Jacques Côté, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2004-2005: Canada Customs and Revenue Agency, Vote 10; Canadian Heritage, Votes 100 and 105; Governor General, Vote 1; Justice, Votes 40 and 45; Parliament, Vote 1; Privy Council, Votes 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 45 and 50; Public Works and Government Services, Votes 1, 5 and 10; Treasury Board, Votes 1, 5, 10 and 20 referred to the Committee February 24, 2004

and

Report of the Canada Post Corporation, together with the Auditors' Report, for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2003, pursuant to the Financial Administration Act, R.S. 1985, c. F-11, sbs. 150(1) referred to the Committee on March 24, 2004.
 

The Chair called Vote 10 (Canada Post Corporation) under CANADA CUSTOMS AND REVENUE AGENCY.

 

Anne Joynt made a statement and, with Gerard Power and Jacques Côté answered questions.

 

At 10:14 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:16 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

At 10:20 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:22 a.m., the Committee resumed sitting in camera.
 

Vote 10 (Canada Post Corporation) under CANADA CUSTOMS AND REVENUE AGENCY, less the amounts voted in Interim Supply, carried on division.

 

Vote 100 under CANADIAN HERITAGE, less the amounts voted in Interim Supply, carried on division.

 

Vote 40 under JUSTICE, less the amounts voted in Interim Supply, carried on division.

 

ORDERED, — That the Chair report Vote 10 (Canada Post Corporation) under CANADA CUSTOMS AND REVENUE AGENCY, Vote 100 under CANADIAN HERITAGE and Vote 40 under JUSTICE, less the amounts voted in Interim Supply, to the House.
