The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met at 9:04 a.m. this day, in Room 371 West Block, the Chair, Paul Szabo, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Leon Benoit, Brenda Chamberlain, Paul Forseth, Roger Gaudet, Anita Neville, Alex Shepherd, Paul Szabo and Lynne Yelich.

 

Acting Members present: Paul Harold Macklin for Walt Lastewka, John Maloney for Robert Lanctôt and Tom Wappel for Joe Jordan.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Philippe Le Goff, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Public Service Commission of Canada: Maria Barrados, Interim President; Greg Gauld, Vice-President, Merit Policy and Accountability Branch; Jacques M. Pelletier, Vice-President, Recruitment & Assessment Services; Anne-Marie Robinson, Vice-President, Corporate Management Branch. Office of the Information Commissioner of Canada: John M. Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2004-2005: Vote 100 (Public Service Commission) under CANADIAN HERITAGE and Vote 40 (Office of the Information Commissioner) under JUSTICE referred to the Committee on Tuesday, February 24, 2004.
 

The Chair called Vote 100 under CANADIAN HERITAGE.

 

Maria Barrados made a statement and, with Anne-Marie Robinson and Jacques M. Pelletier, answered questions.

 

At 10:02 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:10 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

The Chair called Vote 40 under JUSTICE.

 

John M. Reid made a statement and with J. Alan Leadbeater, answered questions.

 

At 11:03 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
