The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met at 9:05 a.m. this day, in Room 371 West Block, the Chair, Paul Szabo, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Roger Gaudet, Alex Shepherd, Paul Szabo, Tony Tirabassi and Lynne Yelich.

 

Acting Members present: Monique Guay for Gilles-A. Perron and Marcel Proulx for Robert Lanctôt.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Philippe Le Goff, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Public Service Alliance of Canada: Nycole Turmel, National President; Jacquie de Aguayo, Legal Officer, Collective Bargaining Branch; Mark Pacek, Regional Representative, Ottawa Regional Office. Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada: Steve Hindle, President; Robert McIntosh, Policy Advisor.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Tuesday, April 20, 2004, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-25, An Act to establish a procedure for the disclosure of wrongdoings in the public sector, including the protection of persons who disclose the wrongdoings.
 

Pursuant to Standing Order 75(1), consideration of Clause 1 is postponed.

The Chair calls Clause 2.

 

Nycole Turmel made a statement and with Jacquie De Aguayo and Mark Pacek answered questions.

 

At 10:05 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:12 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Steve Hindle made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 11:00 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
