The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Walt Lastewka, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Larry Bagnell, Paul Crête, Brian Fitzpatrick, Walt Lastewka, Brian Masse, Dan McTeague, James Rajotte, Andy Savoy, Brent St. Denis and Joseph Volpe.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Lalita Acharya, Geoffrey Kieley and Dan Shaw, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From Rogers AT&T Wireless: The Hon. Francis Fox, President, Strategic Relations; Dawn Hunt, Vice-President, Government and Intercarrier Relations. From Microcell Telecommunications Inc.: André Tremblay, President and Chief Executive Officer; Dean Proctor, Vice-President, Regulatory Affairs, Microcell Telecommunications Inc. and Inukshuk Internet Inc; Ed Giacomelli, Managing Director, Rothschild (Toronto). From Ericsson Canada Inc.: Lionel Hurtubise, Chairman; Peter Minaki, Director, Regulatory and Government Relations.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of Foreign Investment Restrictions Applicable to Telecommunications Common Carriers.

The Hon. Francis Fox, Lionel Hurtubise and André Tremblay each made an opening statement and, with Dawn Hunt and Ed Giacomelli, answered questions.

At 4:49 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:51 p.m., the sitting resumed.

At 5:32 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
