The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met at 3:20 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Walt Lastewka, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Paul Crête, Nick Discepola, Brian Fitzpatrick, Walt Lastewka, Brian Masse, Dan McTeague, James Rajotte and Brent St. Denis.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Lalita Acharya and Dan Shaw, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers: Rick Hyndman, Senior Policy Advisor, Climate Change. From the Canadian Electricity Association: Michael Cleland, Senior Vice-President, Government Relations. From the Mining Association of Canada: Gordon Peeling, President and Chief Executive Officer; Dan Paszkowski, Vice-President, Economic Affairs. From the Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers' Association: Mark Nantais, President. From the Association of International Automobile Manufacturers of Canada: Jonathan Hodges, Director, Automotive Affairs.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), Briefing on the Potential Economic Impact on Canadian Industry of Implementing the Kyoto Protocol.

Rick Hyndman, Michael Cleland and Gordon Peeling made opening statements and, with Dan Paszkowski and Jonathan Hodges answered questions.

At 5:21 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
