The Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:22 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Judi Longfield, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Eugène Bellemare, John Finlay, Monique Guay, Judi Longfield, Gurbax Malhi and Diane St-Jacques.
Other Member present: Rick Laliberté.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Chantal Collin and Kevin Kerr, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From the Avon Foods Inc.: Albert (Allie) Craswell, Plant Manager. From the "Commission scolaire de Montréal": Françoise Grenon, Teaching Consultant, Business Services. From the Durabelt Inc.: Ruth Rogerson, Field Officer. From the La Ronge Motor Hotel, Saskatchewan: Clarence Neault, General Manager. From the National Silicates: Lynda Ryder, Director, Employee Relations. From the Palliser Furniture: Valerie Unwin, Language Training Coordinator.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on Literacy.
The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.
At 5:05 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
