The Standing Committee on Health met at 1:08 p.m. this day, in the Lancaster Ballroom, EXECUTIVE ROYAL INN LEDUC-NISKU, Leduc, Alberta, the Chair, Bonnie Brown, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Carolyn Bennett, Bonnie Brown, Jeannot Castonguay, Stan Dromisky, Hedy Fry, Betty Hinton, Réal Ménard and Rob Merrifield.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sonya Norris, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Consumer's Association of Canada - Alberta: Wendy Armstrong, Volunteer Board Member; Larry Phillips, President. Native Council of Canada (Alberta): Doris Ronnenberg, President; Richard Long, Executive Director; Glen Stashko. Health Law Institute, University of Alberta: Tracey Bailey, Executive Director. Canadian Union of Public Employees, Alberta Division: Bruce McLeod, President. Institute of Health Economics: Devidas Menon, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer. Seniors' Action and Liaison Team: Brian Staples, Chair. Council of Canadians: Dale Watson, Red Deer Chapter.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on February 17, 2003, the Committee resumed its study of Prescription Drugs.

Stan Dromisky took the Chair at 1:47 p.m.

Bonnie Brown took the Chair at 2:51 p.m.

 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 1:57 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
