Meeting No. 4

Thursday, November 21, 2002

The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met at 11:04 a.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, Tom Wappel, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Andy Burton, John Cummins, Rodger Cuzner, R. John Efford, Georges Farrah, Loyola Hearn, Dominic LeBlanc, Bill Matthews, Jean-Yves Roy, Tom Wappel.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Alan Nixon and François Côté, research officers.

Witness: From the Department of Fisheries and Oceans: Patrick Chamut, Assistant Deputy Minister, Fisheries Management.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) the Committee commenced a study of the implications of extending Canada's Exclusive Economic Zone to include the Nose and Tail of the Grand Banks and the Flemish Cap (See Minutes of Proceedings, Thursday, November 7, 2002, Meeting No. 2).

Patrick Chamut made a statement and answered questions.

At 12:41, Rodger Cuzner took the Chair.

At 12:45, Tom Wappel took the Chair.

At 1:03 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
