Meeting No. 39

Monday, February 17, 2003

The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met at 2:06 p.m. this day, in Quebec, in Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, Frontenac Room, the Vice-Chair, Jerry Pickard, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Diane Ablonczy, Madeleine Dalphond-Guiral, Jerry Pickard.

Acting Member present: Christiane Gagnon for Madeleine Dalphond-Guiral.

Other Member present: Hélène Scherrer.

In attendance:  From the Library of Parliament : David Goetz, researcher officer.

Witnesses: From the "Ligue des droits et libertés": Jacques Tousignant, Consultant. From the "Concept e Sécurité Technologie": Yves Côté, Accountant; Gilles Gravel, Director of Security. From the LABCAL: Serge Ferland, President and CFQ; Gregory McConnell, Business Development Manager.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study of the National Identity Card (See Minutes of Proceedings, Thursday, February 6, 2003, Meeting No 17).

Jacques Tousignant made a presentation and answered questions.

At  3:14 p.m. the sitting was suspended.

At: 3:16 p.m. the sitting resumed.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study of the National Identity Card (See Minutes of Proceedings, Thursday, February 6, 2003, Meeting No 17).

Yves Côté made a presentation and with Gilles Gravel answered questions.

Gregory McConnell made a presentation and with Serge Ferland answered questions.

At 4:26 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
