The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met at 9:07 a.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Joe Fontana, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Diane Ablonczy, Yvon Charbonneau, Madeleine Dalphond-Guiral, Joe Fontana, Joe Peschisolido, Jerry Pickard, David Price, Lynne Yelich.
Other Member present: John Bryden.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Benjamin Dolin; Researcher.
Witnesses: From the Department of Citizenship and Immigration: Joan Atkinson, Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy and Program Development; Rosaline Frith, Director General, Integration; Patricia Birkett, Registrar, Citizenship; Paul Yurack, Counsel, Legal Services; Daniel Poulin, Counsel, War Crime Section, Department of Justice.
Pursuant to its Order of Reference of Friday, November 8, 2002, the Committee
resumed debate on Claude 2 consideration of Bill C-18, An Act respecting
Canadian citizenship (See Minutes of Proceedings, Thursday, November 21,
2002, Meeting No. 6).
Joan Atkinson and Rosaline Frith made opening statements and with the other witnesses answered questions.
At 10:40 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
