Thursday, January 30, 2003

The Legislative Committee on Bill C-17 met in a televised session at 9:05 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the acting Chair, John O’Reilly, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Sarkis Assadourian, Rex Barnes, Robert Bertrand, Bev Desjarlais, Marlene Jennings, Mario Laframboise, Gary Lunn, Steve Mahoney, James Moore, Lynn Myers, John O'Reilly, Beth Phinney.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: David R. Goetz and Margaret Young, Analysts.

Witnesses: From the British Columbia Civil Liberties Association: Vincent Gogolek, Policy Director. As Individual: The Hon.Warren Allmand; Clayton Ruby.

The Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-17, Public Safety Act 2002.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

At 10:54 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
